Infrared Sauna

Infrared Sauna

Far-infrared radiation, or far-infrared light, is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is located between visible light and microwaves. Even though it is often called far-infrared light, it can’t actually be seen by humans. Far-infrared light can actually only be felt as heat. While traditional saunas use wood or electric stoves to warm the air, far-infrared saunas use far-infrared light to generate heat. Far-infrared light doesn’t actually warm the air in a sauna. Instead, it generates heat deep within your body, giving you the same effect as a traditional sauna in a more powerful way.

Benefits of Infrared Sauna

  1. Detoxification: Sweating is your body’s natural way of cleansing and eliminating harmful toxins. Traditional saunas also cause sweating and detoxification, but far-infrared saunas are far more effective at it. Because far-infrared light produces heat within your body, it allows this heat to reach far deeper than just any normal sauna.
  2. Vasodilation is the process of widening the blood vessels in the body. Although this happens naturally, spending time in a far-infrared sauna can help initiate it. When the blood vessels throughout our body become dilated, it reduces blood flow restriction, improves circulation, and lowers blood pressure. When our blood pressure is high, it exposes us to cardiovascular risks, including heart disease, stroke, artery conditions, and more. Luckily, far-infrared saunas are a great tool to lower the chances of obtaining one of these conditions.
  3. Reduced Inflammation and Pain: An improved state of circulation in your body also reduces pain and inflammation in your muscles and joints. This is because more blood, oxygen, and nutrients are effectively able to reach areas of the body that are experiencing pain. Heat in general is a great solution to relax your muscles, further reducing pain and increasing range of motion. When you use a far-infrared sauna after working out or exercising, you’re able to eliminate tension in muscles and maintain muscle health. Far-infrared saunas are also able to alleviate joint and bone pain. This is why people who suffer from arthritis or fibromyalgia should definitely consider treating their pain with a far-infrared sauna.
  4. Weight Loss: One of the reasons for this is due to sweating and detoxification of unwanted chemicals. In fact, research indicates that a 30-minute sauna session can help eliminate between 300 and 800 calories. But far-infrared saunas, in particular, can reduce weight by increasing your cellular metabolism.
  5. Stress Reduction: Far-infrared sauna bathing is favorable for the neuromuscular system after high-endurance activities, making it a great way to relax after your fitness routine. When you’re less stressed, you’ll experience more energy, concentration, and focus. Far-infrared saunas are specifically known to relax muscles and tissues inches below the surface of your skin.
  6. Skin Purification: A few sessions of far-infrared sauna use can give your skin a healthy, shining glow. This is mainly due to the sweating out of dirt, dead skin cells, and other impurities from the surface of your skin. Healthier skin is also the result of improved blood flow. When more blood can circulate throughout your body, more nutrients can be absorbed. These two effects of the far-infrared sauna are great for achieving a healthier appearance and well-being.
